Important Updates:

Tour de Cure Grants Program 2020 for funding in 2021

We are saddened to announce the postponement of the 2020 Signature Tour to March 2021. Unfortunately, coupled with the postponement of the Snow Ball and the Spring Lunch, along with the ongoing COVID-19 situation, Tour de Cure has made the difficult decision to not open a Grants Round in 2020.

Payments for the 'Tour de Cure Annual Grant Program 2019 for payment in 2020'

As was communicated a few weeks ago, our intention remains to pay grant awards on the following basis:
50% of Grant in December 2020
50% of Grant in July 2021
The second payment will be subject to our ability to get some events or other fundraising measures in place in the next 9-10 months. We remain optimistic that we will be able to do so.

Tour de Cure's focus continues to be 'Curing Cancer, Changing Lives' and we recognise that 2020 has been an extremely difficult year for Cancer Researchers. We are committed to continuing our fundraising efforts, and will be launching new virtual events in the coming months.

We look forward to working with you all in the future - and please stay in touch, laura@tourdecure.com.au and tracy@tourdecure.com.au

Revised Application Process and Timeline for the Tour de Cure Grants Program

The Tour de Cure Grants Committee is pleased to announce two major changes that will significantly improve the experience for researchers and other applicants.

A New Two-Stage Application Process for Research Grants

The number of grant submissions Tour de Cure receives has grown significantly each year with over 200 research grant applications  in the Annual Grant Program 2019 for Funding in 2020.

We are very conscious of the amount of work required for researchers to prepare a detailed grant submission. With the number of quality submissions increasing, the chances of success are falling.

The new two-stage process will reduce the workload for the majority of applicants. Those applicants who are invited to provide a more detailed application will have a higher likelihood of receiving grant funding.

Stage 1 - Expression of Interest

Stage 1 is open to all eligible organisations in the medical research community.

The Expression of Interest (EOI) will be an abridged application form that will be accessible via this website. The EOI will need to provide sufficient detail to enable the Grants Committee to assess and rate your proposed research project.

Stage 2 – Full Application

A proportion of the top-rated projects will then be invited to make a full application via SmartyGrants.

The application will capture all of the information provided in the EOI and will ask for more in-depth information about the proposed research project, the research team, budget, milestones and risks, as well as an explanatory video.

Support and Prevention Grants

The process for support and prevention grant applications will continue to be one stage and open to all eligible organisations.

If the Tour de Cure Grants Committee needs to make any changes to the above timeline we will inform you as soon as we become aware of it.

For any questions of an administrative nature concerning this grant program or round, please send an email with your name and phone number to funding@tourdecure.com.au. A representative from Tour de Cure will be in touch within 72 hours.

NAVIGATING (MOVING THROUGH) THE APPLICATION FORM

If you need more help using this form, download the Help Guide for Applicants or check out Applicant Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

On every screen (page of the form) you will find a Form Navigation contents box, this links directly to every page of the application. Click the link to jump directly to the page you want.

You can also click 'next page' or 'previous page' on the top or bottom of each page to move forward or backward through the application.

SAVING YOUR DRAFT APPLICATION

If you wish to leave a partially completed application, press 'save and close' and log out. When you log back in and click on the 'My Submissions' link at the top of the screen, you will find a list of any applications you have started or submitted. You can reopen your draft application and start where you left off.

You can also download any application, whether draft or completed, as a PDF. Click on the 'Download PDF' button located at the bottom of the last page of the application form.

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

You will find a Review and Submit button at the bottom of the Navigation Panel. You need to review your application before you can submit it.

Once you have reviewed your application you can submit it by clicking on 'Submit' at the top or bottom of the screen or on the navigation panel. You will not be able to submit your application until all the compulsory questions are completed and there are no validation errors.

Once you have submitted your application, no further editing or uploading of support materials is possible.

When you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email with a copy of your submitted application attached. This will be sent to the email you used to register.

If you do not receive a confirmation of submission email then you should presume that your submission has NOT been submitted.

Hint: also check the email hasn’t landed in your spam or junk email folder.

ATTACHMENTS AND SUPPORT DOCUMENTS

You may need to upload/submit attachments to support your application. This is very simple, but requires you to have the documents saved on your computer, or on a storage device.

You need to allow enough time for each file to upload before trying to attach another file. Files can be up to 25MB each; however, we do recommend trying to keep files to a maximum of 5MB – the larger the file, the longer the upload time.

COMPLETING AN APPLICATION IN A GROUP/TEAM

A number of people can work on an application using the same log in details as long as only one person is working at a time. Ensure you save as you go.

SPELL CHECK

Most internet browsers (including Firefox v2.0 and above; Safari; and Google Chrome) have spell checking facilities built in – you can switch this function on or off by adjusting your browser settings.
