Background

Cancer can be an isolating experience, particularly for people living in regional communities, where access to care and support can be challenging.

On each tour or event, Tour de Cure offer a local community Grant, where we contribute $10,000 to a local cancer support project.

We present these grants at either a dinner for the ride event, and the start or end for a  walk, run, or swim event. lt give our riders, walkers, runners, swimmers, support crew and other participants the chance to meet the local community Grantee and hear first-hand why the support for this project is so important.

Together we are helping to foster a culture of kindness for everyone touched by cancer.

Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria

 

Available Funds: up to $10,000

Eligibility: Open to any Eligible Organisation* operating within a community associated with a Tour de Cure event**.

Focus: Projects or programmes supporting cancer patients and their families in that community. 

Criteria:

  1. Effectiveness in meeting a defined need in the community;
  2. Ubiquity of offering (how available is the output of the project to defined beneficiaries?); and
  3. Uniqueness of need relative to other options for providing similar support to beneficiaries. 

*Eligible Organisation 

An Eligible Organisation is one that holds Item 1 or Item 2 charity status or has government links (hospital, medical or palliative care). 

*Event

The window for application is set by Tour de Cure on a time to time basis in the course of determining those communities likely to be hosting Tour de Cure rides or other events in the upcoming year. These grants are not determined during the Annual Grant Round associated with other grants.
